Parrot Perch Palace
Parrot Perch Palace was inspired by my love of playfulness and games along with a direct influence from my dearest pet, Juno, a green cheeked conure.
Their first challenge is finding a way to scale the cliffs... if only they knew how to fly.
The most fun part of creating this castle was designing its pedestal. I wanted a kind of rocky cliff but simply lofting three curves together was too clean. I was able to make this unique structure by lofting three separate objects, one cylindrical, one curvy and one jagged. I then laid the three objects within each other and used BooleanUnion to create this organic cliff.
The most difficult part of making Parrot Perch Palace was designing the crown. To do this I made a cone, another cone within it, and a box and used BooleanDifference until a tapered pipe was all that was left. I then used an extruded triangle to cut the shapes out of the crown. Making this object made me realize that there are probably a thousand and one ways to make any kind of object in Rhino. This peaked my interest in wondering how different people might approach the same problem.
I had a lot of fun doing this project. 3D Object design is a fairly new medium and one I'm very excited to know how to wield. I look forward to each layer of story as the lines reveal themselves.
